Over Sixty Projects Compete for the Young Europe Award 2025

This year, the Young Europe Award has received over sixty high school research projects addressing topics related to the European Union: its history, how it works, its institutions, or its major current challenges. The aim of the award is to promote knowledge, interest, and research among young people about European realities.

The prize includes a first award of €500, up to two runner-up prizes of €250 each, and a visit to the European institutions in Brussels departing from Barcelona.

We sincerely thank all participants for their involvement and the collaboration of schools and teachers who support and encourage students’ interest in Europe. We also acknowledge the work and support of the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona, which makes this award possible year after year.

The jury deliberation meeting will take place at the end of April. This year, the jury will be composed of Ona Verdaguer and Mariona Mora, runner-up winners from the 2024 edition; Francesc Colomer, member of the board of the Catalunya Europa Foundation; Laura Rahola, representative of the European Commission; and Víctor Saura, secondary school teacher and journalist.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Plaça Sant Jaume, just before the Europe Day concert (starting at 7:00 p.m.). The prizes will be presented by the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó; Manel Szapiro, Director of the European Commission Representation; and Airy Maragall, President of the Catalunya Europa Foundation.
